Discovering Britain - Urban Images

'Notting Hill Carnival, London'

London is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. It now has communities of over 5,000 people from more than fifty nations living and working in the city. For example there are officially more than 6,300 people of Colombian descent in London. And every August the streets of this otherwise little known part of London celebrate multi-cultural Britain. Although, the carnival started on a much smaller scale back in the 1960s today it has grown into a cosmopolitan festival of enormous size. In recent years Notting Hill has attracted over one and a half million people to it's streets for one weekend of merriment. The attractions include music, dancing, exotic costumes, processions and much more ... Forget Berlin's 'Love Parade', the Notting Hill Carnival is Europe's largest and coolest street party by far!
