J. M. W. Turner is perhaps the best-loved English romantic
artist. He became known as the 'painter of light' because of his unique use of
brilliant colours as the main constitute in many of his land-and-sea-scapes. His
works include water colours, oils and engravings. This painting, as you will
see if you look carefully, shows a steam locomotive crossing a railway bridge on
the Great Western Railway in Berkshire!
